Flowing
“I like the way the wind flows…”, he said.
- “It’s nice, isn’t it?”, she replied.
“Yes, it reminds me…”
- “…of what?”
“Of life.”
- “Whose life?”
“Just life in general.”
- “How so?”
“Because it flows too.”
- “But sometimes it blows.”
“Yes…”
- “Ah, so this is about someone’s life.”
“How do you figure?”
- “Well, because you wouldn’t have br…”
“Wait, don’t say it.”
- “Why not?”
“Because you got me.”
- “… so tell me?”
“About what?”
- “The life you were talking about.”
“It’s complicated.”
- “It’s about you, isn’t it?”
“Yes, but that’s not what the wind reminds me of.”
- “Then it’s not about you.”
“It’s complicated.”
- “Uh-huh”, she smiles.
“The wind is with us. It’s everywhere, no matter where you are. Sometimes you can barely notice it, but it’s with you, all day, every day.”
- “Just like life?”
“Well, yes.”
- “What else does the wind tell us?”
“That life is unpredictable. That one moment, you may find yourself unable to move forward. But on another, you may find yourself being pushed forward, faster than you would have ever imagined.”
- “That sounds… easy.”
“Yet no one ever talks about it.”
-”Or maybe no one ever just listens anymore…”
“… that’s it.”
- “So you’re here to listen?”
“Yes. Why are you here?”
- “To listen to myself.”
“But why here?”
- “Because here, I can focus. Everything is clear here. I can be with myself here, truly be with myself.”
“And you know why?”
- “I assume you’re going to tell me?”
“Because of the wind.”
- “…well…”
“Because everywhere else, the wind is chasing you. Everywhere else, even though you’re hiding from it, you can still feel it right next to you. But not here. Here, you’re free. Here, you chase the wind. You see life and wind as one entity, as one flow. You stand in the middle of it, but it cannot hurt nor pleasure you. It can only state its presence. It won’t haunt you here. It can’t.”
- “Wow…”
“I know… but somewhere, you already knew this.”
- “Are you saying I didn’t listen?”
“No, you were listening. You just didn’t understand the words…”
And together, they stared into the ocean in front of them, not knowing where the flow might lead them next.
