Another one?
Oh no, and another one of my favourite books (Red Mars from The Mars Trilogy) will be adapted. This time into a television mini-series. Back when I read the trilogy I felt it was very suitable for a mini series, but now that it’s here: yuck. The problem I have is simply the people working on it. People tell me that I should wait and see the result before I judge, but I think you can learn a lot by looking at someone’s past and see the projects he or she has worked on. In this case, it’s this guy. Armageddon? Con air? Oh dear. How can someone who wrote and/or helped produce those movies be expected to create an intelligent adoption that is true to the beauty of the Mars Trilogy? No, no, no, no. The same goes for the people working on Foundation, which I mentioned a while ago. It’s true I don’t know what the end result will be, but if you look at these people’s past work you get a very good idea of what their movies and series look like. In this case, you can clearly see that the movies they wrote and produced are shallow, dumbed down, and, when it comes to sci-fi, an insult to the genre.
Obviously I’m gonna have to wait and see how this turns out, but I just know it’s not going to live up to my (and other fans’) expectations. Not even close. I like these book too much to see them get butchered by people who don’t know what *good* sci-fi is all about. Neither Foundation or Red Mars deserves to be turned into a shallow mini series or summer blockbuster.

eigenlijk ben ik wel blij.. ik begrijp wel dat je er problemen mee hebt maar na het einde van Battlestar is er geen echte sifi serie meer.. we need sifi! WE NEEED SIFI!!!
anyway, eerst zien dan klagen..
